Causes Of Aplastic Anemia

50% of the people diagnosed with aplastic anemia do not know the cause, nor is the cause ever determined. When the cause is unknown, it is referred to as idiopathic aplastic anemia. The other half can trace the disease back to one of the following causes:

  1. Exposure to insecticides
  2. Exposure to pesticides
  3. Exposure to chemical toxins
  4. Ingestation of arsenic
  5. Certain drugs
  6. Chemotherapy
  7. Disorders present at birth (congenital disorders)
  8. Drug therapy to suppress the immune system
  9. Pregnancy
  10. Radiation therapy
  11. Toxins such as benzene or arsenic
